What is oxymorphone used for?

Opana side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Opana: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Opioid medicine can slow or stop your breathing, and death may occur. A person caring for you should give naloxone and/or seek emergency medical attention if you have slow breathing with long pauses, blue colored lips, or if you are hard to wake up.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- weak or shallow breathing, breathing that stops;
- a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
- seizure (convulsions);
- chest pain, wheezing, cough with yellow or green mucus;
- severe vomiting;
- high levels of serotonin in the body – agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; or
- low cortisol levels – nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, worsening tiredness or weakness.
Does oxymorphone interact with foods or drinks?
Take oxymorphone on an empty stomach, at least one hour prior to or two hours after eating.
Do not drink alcohol or use prescription or over-the-counter medicines that contain alcohol. Using alcohol while taking oxymorphone can increase your risk of overdose and death.
Who should not use oxymorphone?
Allergies to Ingredients. People who are allergic to any of the following should not take oxymorphone.
- Opana
- Opana ER
- Oxymorphone
- Any of the ingredients in the specific product dispensed

Lung problems. Oxymorphone should not be used if you have severeasthma, trouble breathing, or other lung problems. Oxymorphone can make these conditions worse.
Gut Blockage. Oxymorphone should not be used if you have a blockage of your gut (bowel obstruction) or a narrowing of the stomach or intestines. Oxymorphone can make these conditions worse.
Slowed Gut Movement. Paralytic ileus is a type ofileus in which your intestines are unable to move food through them. Oxymorphone can make this condition worse.
